Halfway
Today marks the half way point between when I arrived on August 16, and when I go home for Christmas on December 16. It seems to have gone quickly. I've done some interesting things and seen some awesome country. I've made new friends, and have learned some new things about teaching. Winter is beginning to set in and I'm looking forward to the change in the seasons. This weekend has been cold and raw with rain all last night changing to wet snow today. Yesterday, Paul, Ron, and I hiked to the old RCMP compound across the harbour, which we hiked to at low tide, cutting off a good three quarters of an hour in hiking time. On the way Paul pointed out to us an old grave, which he had been shown on a previous hike. Just a pile of rocks, and one could see some bones inside through the rocks. There are some interesting old remnants of the previous occupants still around including an old sailing sloop pulled up on the beach. I have been marking school work this morning and will go to the school this afternoon to get ready for the coming week. I expect I will see most of the other teachers at the school as well. It is almost like a social centre for the staff.

Hi Jim,
We have been following your blog with interest. Sounds like you are having quite an adventure.
Shelley and I went back to Parry Sound 3 weeks ago. Dad had lost a lot of weight over the summer and had been comlaining of stomach pains. I think he was convinced he had cancer and was preparing for the worst. Anyway, all his tests are negative and he now seems a lot less depressed. I talked to him last night and he had gained back 4 pounds and said he seemed to have a lot more energy.
We had a visit with Wanda while we were there as Sue had her over for dinner. She seems to be doing OK.
Well I better go. Don't let any bits freeze off while you're there.
Cheers,
Don
