end of October!

It's hard to believe that November is almost here. Tomorrow will be a different sort of day at school. There is going to be a large funeral that will involve almost everyone in the Hamlet tomorrow and the only place big enough is the school gym, so school will be cancelled tomorrow afternoon. Because it is Hallowe'en as well, in the morning we will have various activities involving the whole school going on. I do have a period one class however. I've had a bit of a lazy weekend. I had my friends Donna and Paul for dinner last evening. I made roast beef with roast potatoes, with apple crisp for desert. It turned out rather well, (if I may be allowed to boast). The weather has been cold and windy with blowing snow all weekend. It looks like weather has arrived in earnest this time. There are quite a few snowmobiles out today, although I didn't try mine. I haven't taken many pictures this week so I've included a couple that I took earlier. Some of the guys played poker last night. I went, but their out of my league and they took all my money, so I think that's the last I'll try that! Today I went to church. Because of the funeral tomorrow there was a minister in town today and communion was served. Part of the service was conducted in English as well so I got a little more out of it than the last time I went. If I get some pictures of the Hallowe'en stuff tomorrow I will try to post another blog soon. Take care, Jim
PS The pictures are of some teachers in the staff room, and a close up of the rocks at Soper Falls (it is probably a form of calcite with embedded harder mica containing bits)
