This week there will be no school because it is Professional Improvement Week. Teachers are provided with some funds to engage in some Inuit culture activities. For my part I am going to spend Monday to Thursday with an Inuit couple at their cabin about 20km out of Kimmirut near the floe edge on Hudson Strait. I'm told there will be a good chance to see polar bear(s, walrus and seals. The couple I am going with are about my age and are really nice people. They don't speak a great deal of English so I am hoping to learn an little more Inuktitut. I'll be taking lots of pictures and will make a slide show as my report on my activity when I get back. It should be a great week.
I've gone through some of my pictures of the last month and included a couple of them.Note the rope on the fishing lure. The lures really don't do much as most of the cod are snagged. Many of them were caught on large bare gang hooks!
