Another week closer to Christmas! I'd hate for anyone to get the idea that I'm tired of living here, but it does seem as though it's been ages since I arrived. We are definitely into the winter season now. This past week we had two days of bad weather and school was cancelled from morning recess on. In addition, the school ran out of water on Monday because there was some sort of blockage in the filling pipe, and school was cancelled from noon on. (Water is delivered to each building in the hamlet by tanker truck.) So it's been a fairly slack week. I've had my snow machine out a couple of times and I've included a picture which also shows the steps to my apartment, one of four in this building. I also managed to get out for a short ski yesterday and a jog today. I didn't run much earlier in the fall because the roads were very muddy and it just wasn't very pleasant. I understand that Ontario is getting some winter weather now too. I was looking at weather stats the other day, and Kimmirut was just about the warmest spot in Canada with the exception of the east and west coasts. It was cold this morning however, about -16*C. It's supposed to be cold again tonight. We only have a couple of weeks of classes left before Christmas because we have exams the week of Dec. 5, and then the following week the students we be getting gift boxes ready for the elders of the community, and going out in teams to clean the elders' houses. It's rather a nice way of winding down for Christmas. Keep well, Jim
